21 Jun 365 Days Later…
…and I am still completely in love with my boyfriend. (And he’s in love with me too!)
Yesterday, Rob and I celebrated our one year anniversary- something I could never have imagined happening!
I am not saying that I couldn’t have imagined it because we aren’t compatible (because we totally are), but simply because we had to deal with a lot this past year. We only dated for 2 months before I moved to NYC, where we began 8 months of a long distance relationship. It was extremely hard to maintain our feelings for each other through hour long phone calls, Skype sessions, and short visits home, but somehow we made it.
I am honestly so happy to have him in my life. He makes me feel so special, so loved, and so safe. He makes me laugh, he listens to me, and he takes care of me when I’m sick. We can play video games together, stuff our faces with all-you-can-eat sushi, or simply sit around all day and do nothing together. I enjoy every minute I spend with him- even a year later.
Even more honestly- I’ve never even been in a relationship for an entire year. I didn’t know anyone could stand me for that long!
Apparently, he can.
And I couldn’t be happier about it.

Posted at 09:21h, 21 JuneHello Jess- I am very happy that you are happy and found a person. You don’t know how important it is to have a person that loves one and is willing to be there in the good and bad times. I was married for 12 yrs, total of 17yrs and for the dating of 5 yrs it was nice, all around. Then as soon as we got engage it went downhill. Respect and communication went out the door. No cheating or nothing like that BUT during out 10th year marriage I was diagnosed with colon-rectal cancer and went thru hell and back for non-stop treatment. He wasn’t there for me. He went only to 2 of my oncology apt. never went to my readiation or chemo. I felt so alone. I had problems getting pregnant and when I got pregnant i almost lost her (I have PCOS.. look it up FYI), so she had just turned 2 yrs when I was diagnosed with my cancer and I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for her, I’d not fought for my life, because I didn’t have one next to him. After 2 yrs after my cancer, we divorced and we are going on 5yrs divorced… YEEEE!. But I have only had a 6 week relationship and it’s awlful, because the first thing they see is my FAT-unporportionate body, then when they find out I have a colostomy, they vanish. It’s very very lonely. I am a strong woman, I love to make people days, I communicate, dont take nothing or no one for granted, I will give my sweater for the less fortunate, I’m very romantic, etc (what can I say I’m a social worker by heart). And I have not been able to be given a chance to get to know a person more than a first coffee date.
Firstly, I know it’s not my personality, It’s my physical body, then I’ve noticed that they feel intimated now that I will be finishing my masters in Public Adminsatration this Saturday…. YEEEE !, and I’m a single mother, and working FT at the county with older and disabled adults. And I hate that…. Grrrrr !!
But I refuse to be “dumb” just so I can meet a man.
Well enough about me. I’m really tired, I’ve been sleeping 2-4 hrs a night due to my thesis… so sorry for my misspells… but Zzzzzz.
I’ll be 42 on july 15th, I’m latina, 5.8′ and size 14, working on getting down to 10 after June 26. Just so you can have an idea how I look like.
Take care, love with all your heart, don’t take nothing or no one for granted. And if you were able to work out the long-distance relationship, then you guys are meant to be together. Plus being in NY it’s only Temp while in school after that…. Yeeeee ! together.
Hugs,
Aracelia From Vacaville CA
