Cancer Diary: Nine weeks without treatment

Hey, so how many weeks is too many weeks to not have any cancer treatment?

Because I’m coming up on nine.

I had my last chemo treatment on February 25th and I start my first radiation treatment on April 29th.

So, chat, am I fucked?

For the last nine weeks, I have done nothing to battle my rectal cancer. I am currently in excruciating pain, though I know I don’t look like it.

I know that chemo can take some time to work, but as many of you saw in one of my previous reels, chemo didn’t really do anything.

And instead, I was told to start radiation. Except to have radiation, I need to have ovarian transposition surgery and not put myself into permanent menopause, which I can’t have until 4 to 6 weeks after chemo.

I also have to wait one to two weeks after surgery to start radiation. But then I also have to do radiation scans to plan where the radiation is going to go, and that I needed to do after surgery.

So all of these dates kind of pushed things back.

I have just been trying to get by, trying not to freak out, trying to block out of my mind the fact that it has been nine weeks of letting this cancer just run rampant in my body.

I want this to be over.

Well, at least I’m starting radiation and I hope that it does exactly what it’s supposed to do, which is get the tumor small enough so that I can have curative surgery to remove my rectum.

It has not been a fun nine weeks.
