Cancer Diary: Things Didn’t Go As Planned

Cancer Diary Entry 1: Thing’s didn’t go as planned…

What does someone even wear to chemo?

So, today is my first official day of chemotherapy – or at least it was supposed to be

I had some skin issues that I thought might get in the way.

It looks like I’m moving into the hospital, but we trekked through the snowy Toronto morning anyway.

So I’m freaking out just a little bit

First step was getting a picc line

I know I look like a girl who has it all together, but I actually have bad PTSD when it comes to getting picc lines. I had a bad experience getting one as a kid

I’m not crying, you’re crying. No, I’m crying.

But I had some medication to help. Yay drugs!

But it ended up not being as bad as I had thought it would be.

I cried pretty much the entire process. It didn’t suck. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. So, one thing done.

Next I went to the cancer clinic to be set up for my first infusion.

Even though I’m on a little bit of lorazepam, it didn’t do much – but then it did. The drugs hit a little too hard

First I had to see the doctors. Turns out there was a scheduling mishap and I was supposed to go to the cancer clinic before my picc line

No chemo today.

So it got rescheduled for next week and I passed out for the rest of the night.

So now we’re officially T-minus 7 days until my first chemotherapy appointment.

Let the countdown begin.
