12 Oct Name Game
So I keep hearing all these things about people naming their ostomies!
I never even thought of doing it!
It’s kind of been on my mind for the last little bit. It just seems like a weird phenomena to me.
I mean, I don’t know if I would ever want to name mine.
I see my ostomy as a part of who I am, right? It’s part of me. Giving it a name almost makes it separate- like it’s something to distinguish from me.
Isn’t that a bad thing?
What do you think about this?
Hmmm maybe someone should help me name it?

Posted at 11:46h, 12 OctoberI named my stoma. I don’t know if i really had a reason for it, but it makes it easier to talk to others about it. I guess because maybe it makes it easier for people to understand if it’s personified. I don’t regard it as separate from me, but rather as a part of me. It’s my little ‘sidekick’.

Posted at 05:51h, 15 OctoberI named mine Blair. Because the last name of the surgeon who gave me my Ostomy was Blair. I was quite young and I really thought he was cool at the time so i think thats why I named it that.

Posted at 02:57h, 24 OctoberHi, I named mine lavagirl. No body else can name it for you, just think about it for awhile and if it wants to have a name you’ll figure it out. I chose my name cause to me it was like a little volcano with all the lava. I had my first ileostomy for 3month and my 2nd for four years. I know have the Barnette Contingent Irrigation Reservior. But I still advocate for Ostomys.
