28 Oct Ostomy Education Day in BC!
“It seems like you’re always traveling,” a classmate said to me this morning as I told her I was going to British Columbia tomorrow. “How long are you going for?”
“Oh, just a day,” I said back.
Yup, still have laundry and assignments to do before I leave tomorrow at 3pm, but I’m making my way across Canada to speak at the Ostomy Education Day sponsored by the Ostomy Care and Supply Center.
It seems like it’s going to be a great event and I am so honoured to have been asked to speak.
I’m going to be honest, I haven’t written a speech. When it comes to something like this, I like to stand up there, tell my story, and have a conversation with the audience. I’m no more an expert at living with an ostomy than most of the people who have them, I’m just me. So that’s what I’m going to do. Stand up there and be me.
Alright. I can do that. I can be me no problem, right?
…
I’m slightly nervous, not going to lie. Who wants to hear about me? I know my friends certainly wouldn’t [True, said my friend Blythe as I read her that sentence. THANKS] So I’m kind of just going to go and talk by what I think the audience wants to hear, not what I want to talk about.
So, if you are going to be at the event, or wish you could be, what kind of things would you want me to address? Tell me! Comment under the facebook link or private message me or comment here! Let me know what you want to hear!
Oh, AND if you’re there, make sure to come up and say hi to me!!
