Ostomy Ambassador- Carly

When I was in Vancouver last summer to create the Uncover Ostomy campaign, I was taken to the Grouse Grind Mountain to prove that I could do anything, even with an ostomy. I ended up climbing all the way to the top of the mountain without giving up. It was a huge victory for me as I had never climbed a mountain before.

Rob and Myself at the top of Grouse Grind in VancouverThen I heard that my friend Carly was accompanying Rob, the founder of IDEAS on his climb of Mount Everest.

Ok, so she wins.

Carly has been an extremely outspoken ostomate for a very long time and she’s someone I deeply respect.  Along with the Mount Everest trip, which was for IDEAS’ IBD Adventures campaign this past March to raise awareness for intestinal disease, Carly takes every opportunity she can to speak out. She talks about her ostomy at school, around the community, and anywhere she can.

IBD Adventure Team for EverestTonight, in fact, Carly is speaking about Ostomy Camp for the Hamilton district Ostomy group.

She is also speaking about Everest on Thursday in Dundas for a Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada event and on October 4th she will be speaking about her Everest trip to the Brantford district ostomy group.

She takes every opportunity she can to let people know that her ostomy, and IBD don’t get in her way.

Carly is an amazing girl and I am so lucky to know her :]

Carly at EverestKeep on speaking!

it has been my pleasure to meet and get to know both you young ladies-and I am here to tell you both "Rock"! Your both such an inspiration, not only to the IBD and Ostomate community, but to young people in general. Your dedication only goes to prove "IBD doesn't Stop Me"! Namaste, my friends
